Rangers midfielder John Lundstram believes Liverpool can expect a special Ibrox atmosphere as he set his sights on deepening the gloom at his boyhood club.

The Reds take on the Scottish Premiership side in Glasgow on Wednesday evening as they look to strengthen their chances of qualification for the Champions League knockout stages.

Jurgen Klopps side were comfortable 2-0 winners in the Anfield meeting between the sides last week, a result which was sandwiched by disappointing Premier League results in a 3-3 home draw with Brighton and Hove Albion and Sundays 3-2 loss at leaders Arsenal.

And withLiverpoolhaving conceded the first goal in 13 of their last 19 games in all competitions, Lundstram is keen for Rangers to capitalise on the Reds slow start to matches.

Our gameplan going into the last game against Liverpool isnt too dissimilar to what we are trying to do tomorrow, he said ahead of the game on Tuesday afternoon.

We will be coming out the traps at Ibrox with everyone behind us, trying to put some pressure on them, trying to start quick as we always do. At Anfield we tried to do the same but, playing at Anfield, Liverpool have the backing behind them and it is a tough place to go. At Ibrox it is going to be different, and with everybody behind us hopefully we can do something special.

Theres something special about Ibrox, anybody who has been here on big European nights and felt the atmosphere and aura around the place knows there is just something that happens underneath the lights here. I dont know what it is, but it just gets to everyone and gives you a lift.

Theres something in the air and hopefully it can do the same again. We have had an extra day than Liverpool to recover and hopefully that can play a part as well.

Rangers, beaten Europa League finalists last season, have yet to score in the group stage having followed a 4-0 opening matchday defeat at Ajax with a 3-0 home reverse to leaders Napoli.

And mindful of securing at least third place and a Europa League berth in the New Year, Lundstram said: Is it a must win? If we want to get anything out of the group than Id say so, yes. If we get a result we have two massive games, especially against Ajax at Ibrox.

Everyone was talking about Liverpool being in a sticky patch but its still Liverpool Football Club, still a massive, massive team who have achieved great things. It has been a tough spell but its not a crisis, theyve just had a couple of poor results. They are still an unbelievable team with unbelievable players and an unbelievable manager.

Lundstram, a former Everton youth player, grew up a Liverpool supporter and was keen to avoid any real discussion of last weeks Anfield defeat with those on Merseyside. I didnt even want to speak to any of them, to be honest! he laughed. They are just happy Im playing at the stage I am now. More than anything, the overriding thing for my friends and family is pride, which is nice. But, yeah, I didnt really want to speak to them, but I had a few nice messages!
